Hex - Hospital

After Eliot left, Nyx mostly slept. It was really all he could do. Even with the painkillers, he ached all over. He knew he'd heal, and fast, but right now it was all misery. It didn't help that they had him on iron, making his magic sluggish. He wasn't with it enough to make up some lie about being allergic or whatever he had to say to get off it.

He wasn't sure what time it was when the lights came back on, another nurse coming through to check his vitals. Morning, maybe? He knew they'd kicked Eliot out last night, since it was already well past visiting hours when he'd been brought in, but he had no idea how long he'd been here.

His phone had been chiming all night, but a nurse had plugged it in to charge across the room, encouraging him to rest.

The moment he was allowed in, he was in Nyx's room. He paused in the doorway to brace himself, then brushed past the curtain.

"Oh my god," he exhaled softly. "I took me eyes off you for two minutes..."

"I'm fine," Nyx insisted. "I'm breathing. Fae are hard to kill, remember?"

He was squinting a bit, as though the light hurt his eyes.

"I texted you as soon as I could think to, but they weren't letting people in. Eliot was here, but they kicked him out."

"Security wouldn't let me up the lift until public hours," he replied, nodding in understanding.

He reached back and slapped the light switch, leaving the room only lit by what daylight came round the curtains.

"How bad is it?" he asked.

"There was some internal bleeding, a broken rib. I was lucky, Eliot was there, he managed to soften the fall with magic," Nyx admitted. "I don't know how, it all happened so fast, but he did."

"It's all over socials. I've seen it from every angle," he confessed.

[tempting_the_fates]

"I'm sorry," Nyx said quietly. "I really am, Hex. I just- It wasn't a good night. I was high, and a bit drunk, and..."

And he'd let Hannibal nearly drain him dry. He'd been a wreck.

"I'm just sorry."

[just_hex]

"You don't have to be sorry to me, love," Hex said, dragging a chair close enough for him to touch Nyx's hand.

"I know you think you're hiding it, but you aren't keeping anything from me. I could tell it was a bad night the second I saw you. Smelled you, actually," he admitted.

"It always goes away," Nyx said with a tiny shrug. "The melancholy never lasts forever."

[just_hex]

"Of course not. You weren't like this before, yeah? It can't rain all the time," he assured him.

[tempting_the_fates]

"I was doing really well for a while," Nyx nodded.

It always came back though. Always.

"Did you... Did you see the man who shoved me?" He asked quietly.

[just_hex]

"No, I didn't," Hex apologized. "And I couldn't see in any angle online."

Nyx nodded and leaned back in the bed again.

"Maybe it was just an accident," he decided.

[just_hex]

"Nah, mate, there's a dozen witnesses. So weird nobody caught on camera," he said. "Kinda spooky, considering what was in the air last night, yeah?"

"You think it was someone mag-"

Nyx paused, frowning slightly to himself.

"...It was probably just strangeness from last night," he agreed, though it seemed he might have thought of an alternative explanation.

[just_hex]

"It was wild last night. I thought I was going to change, but it's a new moon," he said. "I lost sight of you when you were with Will, and then I tried me best to not get in any fights."

Will. Shit. He'd texted him about the accident, but he had fallen asleep before he'd gotten a message back. He couldn't even remember what had happened before He'd seen the other fae. So much had happened, all in one night. Though he couldn't say it hadn't ended with a bang.

Several, really. Maybe he did need to start pulling himself together.

"You alright?" Hex asked with concern, noticing the shift in Nyx as he rambled.

[tempting_the_fates]

"Yes, yeah, sorry," Nyx said awkwardly. "Just trying to remember everything that happened the other night. I was a bit out of it when I stepped outside."

Gods was that an understatement.

Hex reached up to scratch his hair, looking a bit sheeping when he asked, "How high were you?"

"I'd taken a few things, and I'd been drinking..."

And been bitten several times.

"I was wasted."

[just_hex]

Hex nodded. Nyx had already been tipsy when he'd last seen him.

"And they probably gave you the good stuff here, yeah?" he asked, gesturing to the bag of fluid.

"Yeah," Nyx purred. "They're giving me iron too though. My magic isn't working."

[just_hex]

"Does it need to?" Hex asked. "I can go give them what for and make them quit..."

[tempting_the_fates]

"You could take me home," Nyx said softly.

[just_hex]

"Just pick you up and walk out the doors? I'm sure no one would be cross," he chuckled.
